Gerald Durrell Biography:Gerald Malcolm Durrell Ode (January 7, 1925 – January 30, 1995) was British naturalist, writer, zoo, conservationist and television. He was born in Jamshedpool, England and moved to England in 1928 when his father died.
Gerald Durrell Early Life and Education
Gerald Durrell was born in India in 1925 and spent his childhood in Corfu. His experience at this point has inspired his lifelong love for animals and nature.
He studied North Point Darjeeling at St. Joseph’s School. The family moved to England in 1928 just before his father passed away and settled there.

Gerald Durrell is a British naturalist and author and is best known for writing books on animals. Founder of Jersey Zoo and Wildlife Conservation Trust. Born in India in 1925, when his father served, he was trained at home. In 1939, the family returned to London, where Gerald worked in the aquarium business and later got a job as a caretaker at the zoo. Here he received his first vocational training and collected “related documents” containing information about rare and endangered animal species. Durel organized three expeditions – according to British Cameroon (1947-1949), two followed in Guayana (1950) in England, and spent his entire legacy for her. Without a living, he began writing books on animals that became popular. He spent income from literary works on continuing his research and protecting animals.

Gerald Durrell Personal Life
Durel was an alcoholic. In 1976 he left his wife. They divorced in 1979, and Durrell again married American zoologist Lee McGeorge.
